Help Us Get Youth Involved in Smart Growth for St. Louis

Help provide materials for smart growth projects and transportation for 50 youth, allowing them to bring their expertise to multiple activities planned for before, during and after the conference.

Support efforts to ensure that St. Louis youth leaders and teachers are better prepared to help make the region more sustainable!

We are working to help connect 50 students (and their teachers) to local government and other community leaders and give them a role in several smart growth community-led projects that will take place before, during and after the conference. These efforts will also connect teachers and students from the St. Louis region who are exploring the implementation of smart growth principles. Students and teachers will learn from smart growth leaders how to address several key challenges in the region.

While the Missouri REALTORS® have provided seed funding for this effort, we still need to raise about $2,500 to achieve our goal! We’ve set up a crowdfunding campaign so small donations can have big results.

Your donation will help Community Allies work with youth in its STL Youth Smart Growth Leaders program. The program will give 50 students – and their teachers – an instrumental role in several community-led, sustainability projects that will take place in conjunction with the conference.

Students and teachers will learn from national and local smart-growth leaders how to address several key challenges facing the region.

Focused education and innovative strategies like these that connect youth with local leaders pave the way for the revitalization of local schools, neighborhoods and communities and implement long-term, smart growth opportunities for uniting St. Louis. Engaging youth around smart-growth issues will also help ensure they are better prepared to become the future leaders of our communities.

We will work with youth, schools and teachers for specific days and times to ensure their participation in and contribution to conference events, including hands-on, smart-growth projects out in the community, youth-led presentations, youth-led research projects on key neighborhood-level issues, and the development of youth programs and curriculum after the conference.
